Trembling voices, and then, Mr. Reed and Miss Rife, the directors, chose the cast for the operetta "The Gypsy Rover," to be given October 17 and 18. Laurence Fulkerson, son of an English Lord stolen by gypsies when a baby, sang love songs to Jean Dunevant, an English Lady, while Charles Whittington and John Peterson did some clever gypsy songs and stunts. Harold Strobridge, father of Jean, took the lead in a hunting song that sounded as if the crowd was really ready to chase the fox. Since the cast included students from all grades, it was too large for us to mention everyone. L.J. |
