To lessen the chance for accidents to pupils the Safety Patrol System began functioning last autumn under the direction of Mr. Furst and the State Highway Patrol.

The patrol is composed of seventeen boys, divided into two groups, one to handle traffic in the village before and after school, and the other to protect the children in the school buses. Two boys are selected each week for bus service and four are selected for duty in the village.

To become an officer of the Safety Patrol System the boys must take an examination prepared by the Highway Patrol. This patrol has been of great value to the school this year in that it has eliminated possibilities of traffic accidents when school is dismissed at noon and evenings. Plans are being made for a more definite organization of this group and for regular meetings.

The officers of the patrol are Captain Montgomery West; Lieutenant Eugene Howell; Lieutenant Keith Wright.
